Spiral Fasting Testimonials

Sarah - 21 days

How long was your fast?
21 days

When did you fast?
May & June 2002

What was your age, weight, and height before your fast?
Age 42, 130 lbs. prior to the fast, and 5'6"

What was your weight after completing the fast? What is your weight now?
About 114 at end, now settled at approx. 120

Why did you decide to fast?
I tried not to focus on any one thing/area, but did want to re-establish connection between mind and body- which meant allowing my system to guide me.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
Would I be ok with just resting? Doing nothing? Was I ready to accept what may arise during cleansing?

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? Why and why did you continue or stop?
No.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
Yes, better able to "listen" to all the signals I tended to ignore/take for granted.

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why or why not?
Yes, having good knowledgeable support is important.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
Loren's Philosophy, number of staff to guests, and the center is not "clinical" setting. It's very natural & comfortable.

What was your experience at the TWC like?
Very pleasant, feeling of companionship while still maintaining plenty of room inside the center and outside.

What did you experience during the fast?
Slept much deeper, but actual hours went way down. Thoughts were clear, never groggy or fuzzy.

How did you spend your time?
Laying down and resting, reading a few hours per day.

Just purified water? Did you get hungry?
I thought I would be hungry, 21 days seemed like a long but I did not get hungry.

Did you get weak?
Yes, sometimes simple things- like getting dressed would take a while.

What was the best part of the process for you?
I learned a lot met with people with similar questions in different stages of fasting able to share experiences and ideas.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
The process was not difficult at all. I found if I relaxed, & enjoyed experiences (like you should on vacation), time went by quickly.

Was it ever painful?
No, but eliminating toxins can be uncomfortable.

What are you experiencing now after the fast? Did you experience any changes due to fasting?
I appreciate what feeling good is- rather than just "ok" better ability to pay attention to signs that maybe made a bad judgement on food or too much activity more at ease with myself, alert & happy.

What kind of diet are you following after your fast?
Similar to before, fruit, occasional salad, but have virtually eliminated nuts and seeds (which I tend to overdo).

Is eating difficult for you now that you have completed the fast?
No, I find it easier. I'm able to pay better attention to feelings of fullness and hunger.

Would you fast again?
Yes!

What piece of advice would you give to other fasters?
Try not to test energy levels or rush the process. Enjoy yourself, it is a wonderful time for learning and healing.

Additional comments:
Healing is not bound by geography. Tanglewood is not too far to travel to.
