Maha - 21 days, 7 days refeedingHow long did you fast?21 days, and 7 days refeeding When did you fast? January 4-January 31, 2003. What is your age, gender, weight before your fast, and height? 39, F, 152, 5'3" What was your weight after completing the fast? What is your weight now? 131, 130 (6th day refeeding) Why did you decide to fast? To detoxify my liver mainly and other organs secondly from various medicines taken throughout my life. What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast? Am I strong enough to last or will I break under pressure. Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? Why and why did you continue or stop? Never. Actually ending it would not have stopped the painful healing crisis and I really did not have an appetite. Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast? Only time will tell, although, I did come away with so much new knowledge, concepts and methods to simplify my life and my diet. Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why or why not? Absolutely. Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center? I heard positive things about the place and Loren Lockman. What was your experience at the TWC like? Excellent. What did you experience during the fast? Negative: Leg and buttock pain at night and lack of sleep during the night. Itching of skin and rashes. Positive: Lightness, calmness, wisdom, understanding and perspective of my life. What did you do all day? Read, lie down, nap, talk to other guests or staff. Just purified water? Did you get hungry? No. Did you get weak? More into the fast. What was the best part of the process for you? Having the stress from old food detox out of body, especially salt, caffeine, sugar, etc. What was the most difficult part of the process for you? The leg pain between day 10 and day 16. Itching and rashes on skin. Was it ever painful? Yes. What did you experience after the fast? Weakness. It was a gradual process to regain my strength. Did you experience any changes due to fasting? No. What kind of diet did you follow after your fast? Still refeeding on raw. Was eating difficult afterwards? Yes. Would you fast again? Yes. What piece of advice would you give to other fasters? Trust the process. It's a process. Additional comments: It's been 3 weeks and I have learned a lot about my body's food allergies that I did not know before. Salt is my main enemy. Black pepper 'knocks' me out. Wheat creates mucus. ORGANIC, ORGANIC, ORGANIC! I have been maintaining 85% raw and making exceptions to some soups and non-sweet stews of my mother. I like to eat mostly sweet fruits and non-sweet fruits and have made some flax crackers to munch on for 'bread' cravings. My 'staples' are cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, lettuce, apples, oranges and avocado. My challenge is to give up spicing ingredients like onions, garlic, cilantro and of course the various curry concoctions. It is usually easy unless I am visiting my mother. I eat to not hurt her feelings. Return to fasting testimonials page. |
