Spiral Fasting Testimonials

Lisa - 17 days

How long did you fast?
17 days

When did you fast?
June 26 - July 12, 2001

What is your age, gender, weight before your fast, and height?
I am female, 40 years old, 5'8" and weighed approximately 150-155 pounds (not sure as don't own scales).

What was your weight after completing the fast?
I lost approximately 15-20 pounds (again not sure as no scales but lost 1-2 sizes)

Why did you decide to fast?
I was not getting pregnant after 1-1 1/2 years of trying and want to give my body optimum opportunity of conceiving. I am also interested in achieving optimum health and dealing with some issues of candida and a skin condition.

What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast?
I wasn't too apprehensive but I guess my main concerns were how much weight I would lose and that I would be really hungry.

Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? Why and why did you continue or stop?
No, not at all.

Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast?
I could have gone on longer but I had time constraints. I am happy with what I accomplished though. The next few months will tell if my ability to conceive has improved. I am really happy with the weight I have lost and the way my body looks. My skin seems to be improving as well.

Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why or why not?
Absolutely! There is no way I could have done it on my own. I wouldn't have had the willpower number one. The environment and people at Tanglewood were fantastic. The atmosphere was restful and peaceful and supportive. The whole process and interactions with others was fascinating and enlightening. I can't imagine you could have the same full experience at home.

Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center?
I saw Loren Lockman speak in London and I really connected with his philosophy and trusted him. I didn't know about fasting or have any desire to fast prior to the seminar but went away with a real desire to take this next step in my road to optimum health.

What was your experience at the TWC like?
I feel that I had a really good fast. I did not find the process particularly difficult so the experience was really great.

What did you experience during the fast?
My specific experiences included a few mild headaches, being light-headed a lot and dizzy when standing up too quickly or when trying to wash my hair in the shower. Only a couple of days did I feel exhausted and really slept most of the day on those days. My stomach was a little upset a few days and my ears were blocking up a lot due to drainage taking place in my head. My thinking was quite clear. I kept a journal and read a lot, spending time getting clear about my vision for my life.

What did you do all day?
Slept, read alot, wrote, sat out in the sun for about half an hour a day and talked and shared experiences with others.

Just purified water? Did you get hungry?
I lost my hunger quite quickly (a day or two). I had the odd rumble now and then but was surprisingly satisfied during the fast. I did think quite a lot about food the day before I started eating fruit again.

Did you get weak?
Yes, a bit. I moved slower than normal but not dramatically so at all. I certainly could not have maintained my normal schedule though.

What was the best part of the process for you?
Well I certainly love the way I look and feel now but I would say the learning experience of sharing it with the others really made it for me.

What was the most difficult part of the process for you?
Getting back into my normal routine afterwards. It was a little bit of a shock to me.

Was it ever painful?
No, not for me.

What did you experience after the fast? A really clean, pure feeling and an exhilaration over my new body. A shock to get back to business after 3 weeks of total peace. Lots of interest from others as to what I had done and my experience.

Did you experience any changes due to fasting?
Certainly a higher understanding of our true natural diet and how my body operates.

What kind of diet did you follow after your fast?
Fruit and salads. I did slip and have cooked food after a week and felt absolutely awful afterwards.

Was eating difficult afterwards?
It was difficult to start eating because I wasn't really hungry and it tasted like antibiotics were coming out of my system and I could really taste it in the water and fruit. I was still detoxing when I started eating. After a day or two the fruit started tasting better. I really craved salads when I got home. I probably started eating abit too much and had to watch it - old habits die hard. I mentioned I slipped a week after getting home and had cooked food - it really is addictive - and it made me feel awful. I actually am quite satisfied with fruit and salads and other than the one slip found it quite easy to eat out in restaurants as well as at home.

Would you fast again?
Yes, although I hope to get pregnant, breastfeed and have 2 children so it may be a few years until I am able to again.

What piece of advice would you give to other fasters?
Definitely do it! Go in with a positive attitude. Fast for as long as you can and definitely stay on fruit and salads when you finish, don't succumb, it isn't worth it.

Additional Comments:
It was a really amazing experience! Thanks for everything!
