Kay - 23 daysHow long was your fast?23 days When did you fast? 29 May – 20 June 2003 What was your age, gender, height, weight before your fast? 32 1/2, fem, 5 f 5”, 132 lb What was your weight after completing the fast? What is your weight now? 109 lb Why did you decide to fast? candida / colitis / chronic fatigue / depression What was your biggest apprehension going into the fast? Dealing with emotional issues Did you ever consider ending the fast during the process? If so, why? Why did you continue/stop? Yes. I had intended to fast up to 4 weeks. But just got too distressed in that last week! Did you accomplish what you set out to do with your fast? Yes. I feel no disturbance in my gut/stomach on eating. Would you recommend that people have their fasts supervised? Why, or why not? Yes. It’s way too emotionally scary for a long fast alone. Why did you choose to fast at the Tanglewood Wellness Center? Because I have been here before and know that Loren’s intentions are pure and he cares about what he is doing. What was your experience like at Tanglewood? I felt incredibly loved and cared for. The scenery was breathtaking and most helpful in finding inner harmony. What did you experience during the fast? I was quite sick in my 3 week with stomach & gut discomfort. The emotional distress came and went. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed with joy. How did you spend your time? Mostly outside in nature under the sun. Occasionally I did some art. I listen to music. Meditated twice daily and a little yoga. Just purified water? Were you hungry? I experienced extreme gastric distress and certainly didn’t feel like eating at all. However celery smelt appealing. Did you get weak? During the last 5 days I was quite weak but not as much as last time I fasted (2 years ago). What was the best part of the process for you? Feeling liberated on times during meditation and yoga What was the most difficult part of the process for you? Dealing with past emotional trauma and upset. Impatience with process also. Was it ever painful? Yes the last couple of nights I gritted my teeth so hard in the night they hurt and I just wanted to quit the process. What are you experiencing now after the fast? Little bit spacey before “meals” but it is only Day 2. I feel comfortable in my digestive tract. Did you experience any changes due to fasting? I feel there is more hope in overcoming depression and thus I feel more confident about life for the future What kind of diet are you following after your fast? Mostly hygenic but I am going to allow myself to eat some quinoa/millet and tahini also. Is eating difficult for you now that you’ve complete the fast? The first day had to be gentle. I am not eating large quantities i.e. a pear seems large! Would you fast again? Yes but I would not aim to do more than 2-3 weeks at a time in future. What advice would you give to other fasters? Make sure you are ready to spend time with yourself and be pure about your intentions. Additional Comments: Thank you Loren for not giving up on me. Thank you “team” for looking after me like a princess. And thank you Tim for being the best doctor I ever had the good fortune to be under.
